X-Plane: New Combat version, real planes developed with XP

I've mentioned the flight sim X-Plane from time to time here, most
recently in the discussion about hacking airliner circuitry.

Well, Austin Meyer, XP's author, after much politicking by myself in
the X-Plane user community, has come out with a Combat version of
X-Plane (see http://www.x-plane.com) for those who want to fly (or
design) the aircraft of their choice in the most realistic flight sim
in the world, which is now the most realistic combat sim in the world.

It seems more and more small companies are using X-Plane not only for
FAA pilot training, but for actual engineering development simulation.
Doug Jones of XCOR has mentioned that company chief Jeff Greason uses
X-Plane a bit, but now several other companies are listed on the
X-Plane website as using X-Plane in their development efforts,
including Carter Copter's new autogyro and WingCo's Atlantica flying
wing.

If they are using X-Plane for virtual flight testing, it must be a
pretty accurate sim, eh?

For those who like fighting robots, Austin Meyer also produces the
robot combat sim "Young's Modulus", from which much of the combat code
for the XP combat version is derived.
