I'd be against it if it makes the subject lines any longer.
Topic changing subjects already get so long that they may
truncate the "was:" subject in some mail readers so you
lose the evolution of a thread.
Using PROCMAIL, the following works fine for me:
# Dump ExI Mail into ExI folder
:0:
* $ ${SENDER}owner-extropians@extropy.org
| ${FORMAIL} -A"X-Folder: ExI" >>${MAILDIR}/ExI
Don't know if Outlook allows one to sort by sender or not.
(But there again one shouldn't be using a spawn of the devil
program like Outlook *anyway*...).
The only messages I've seen this not work for are those that
seem to be posted from the bulliten board or those that are
resent for non-list members. But those are very low volume.
If there is some meta-tag header class other than the Subject:
line that could be modified then I don't care either way.
