Speaking as a person who had chronic myeloid leukaemia 6 years ago and has
come out of rejection problems this week (pretty much) (it feels pretty good
I can tell you, huge amounts of immuno-suppresants for lung rejection etc.
or indeed any rejection are very hard to deal with after a few years) I can
say that this drug has done a lot for anyone without a transplant
possibility. Statistically, they had only 6 years to live. I wasn't sure if
I had a transplant for 3 months which didn't bother me too much but a normal
person would have been a bit worried. So it's great. The Singularity saved
my butt! (I believe it started obviously around 1870 and has its very
obvious "peak" or mid-moment if you like in 2025 with the Friendly
Artificial SuperIntelligence.)
The development which may further increase the success rate of the drug is
also good.
One of my doctors told me two months ago that the genetic fault which cause
CM leukaemia must be augmented by some other factor in the immune system or
elsewhere because not all people with the fault develop CML. An interesting
point I hadn't known about.
