Okay, maybe I was wrong.
Now Brian is saying "I took a deliberate extreme position to
foster debate, I was playing Devils advocate", and "You must
have missed the post about this being an exercise".
Perhaps I missed some of Brian's posts, where I might have
concluded that he was playing Devil's advocate? Because
here is my analysis:
Let's look at what he actually wrote in context. Now
THIS IS WHAT STARTED the META question, wasn't it?
> The way to be respected is to behave honorably, period.
>
>> What is the hard answer to a nuked Manhattan?
>
> A Mega-nuked Mecca.

> Brian
Now if that isn't a knee-jerk reaction, I don't know what
is. It seems **obvious** to me that Brian was not playing
"Devil's Advocate" or creating an "exercise" for the rest of
us. Yet that is what he later claimed. Why?
It would be very valuable to me, Brian, if you could reply
off-list (since you have exceeded your quota). I say that
your remark was entirely thoughtless, and was *not* playing
devil's advocate, nor was any kind of intellectual exercise,
but was rather a knee-jerk reaction.... an instant response,
a repartee, a riposte.
Am I right or wrong?
Thanks,
Lee
