You make it sound as if it was a good thing. Even base64-encoding of a
SHA1 document hash (such as http://localhost:4004/id/A0C9E8G7I6K5M4O3Q2S1U0W9U8A/)
would have been much, much shorter, while giving you essentially 160 bits
of document address space.
