In Alaska there was a case a number of years ago, where a bowhunter was going after brown bears without backup in the form of a rifle or a nearby buddy.

A huge bear he had attempted to kill charged him! Within seconds this massive animal was literally right on top of the man, who was now flat on his back and getting mauled.

The only thing the hunter could think to do was pull out a handful of arrows from his quiver, and slash at the bear's throat! This saved his life, and the bear died right on top of him.

Luckily, the hunter was found in time by friends to get basic first-aid, and be airlifted out of there to a hospital. He recovered and went on to marry a winner of the Ms. Alaska beauty pageant. I guess he had proven his worthiness to pass on his genes to a worthy female! lol

The poor bear was stuffed and placed in the Ted Stevens International Airport, here in Anchorage. As funny as this sounds, the bear was later moved because some elderly tourists were actually terrified at the sight of the beast, and the idea there were other furry predators out there(just waiting to eat them!)

The bear now resides in a big Anchorage shopping mall, which is away from all the impressionable elderly ladies who like to visit Alaska in their twilight years.

best wishes,

John
