For the sake of accuracy:
Original award: $160,000 compensatory, $2.7 Mil
punitive (two days of coffee sales for MacD @ 1.35 mil
per day).
Then the judge reduce the punative damages to $480,000
(three times the compensatory damages).
Then they both appealed.
But before the appeals court got a shot at it, they
settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.
