Something tells me it really doesn't matter when the invasion begins.
What matters is that we'll most likely still be in the middle of a
conflict when the 2004 elections roll around. Would the American public
really want to switch regimes in the middle of an armed conflict?

Operation Desert Storm concluded months before the '92 elections. GHW
Bush had a "win" going into the election, but lost anyway. One wonders
what lesson the younger Bush came away with...
