RE: Authority and Expertise

Extropes,

Expertise is not intelligence, and is, in any event,
quite narrow. I look for reasonableness--emotionalism
distorts objectivity--and good thinking habits,
logical clarity, and good communication skills. (The
Anders Sandberg Standard) Credentials are hard-won
honors and rightly deserve respect (for jumping
through hoops at the very least), but on any given
Sunday, credentials or no, you're still somewhere in
the unmapped expanse between "nailed it" and "Whoops!
Never mind."
