Subject: Hello extropians.

Hi all,

Thought I should introduce myself beore posting. My name is Brett Paatsch.
I've been a subscriber to the extropian list over a year now and although I
am known to a few of you I have never quite gotten around to speaking up on
the list. I'm 35, based in Melbourne Australia, have a background in
Information technology management and business strategy generally. I am
currently studying biotechnology part time whilst working as a sort of
biotech consultant to the Australian biotechnology industry association on
stem cell legislation that is up before parliament.

My interests would correlate with many of yours. Science, politics, ethics,
info, bio and nano technologies. I don't expect I will be able to post very
often due to other time commitments, but I have very much appreciated the
existence of this group from time to time and thought some of you might like
to know your ideas and efforts are impacting more people than you may
realise. Sometimes I found it good to just listen to "kindren spirits", but
more than that the list also serves an excellent function I think, in
faciliating "leveraged learning". By this I mean that when someone finds a
source of info or at link that is likely to be of interest to others they
forward it on. I've been a beneficiary of this sort of generosity for a
while and whilst I am unlikely to have the time to post regulary I will look
to make some contributions when I can, sometimes here and sometimes on the
newly set up Australian and New Zealand offshoot of the world transhumanism
association.

Regards,

Brett
