I don't remember if this sf novel has been mentioned here previously. By
new writer John C. Wright (a former lawyer and journalist in his mid-40s,
with sons Orville and Wilbur, so he's not without a gruesome sense of
humor), it's a most provocative libertarian far future replete with all
manner of rejigged transhuman identities, nanotech, uploads and extended
longevity (if you can pay for them, naturally), superintelligent AIs
(sophotechs), and a kind of Sysop (Earthmind) comprised of the nine
superdooperest of the angelic sophotechs. *The Golden Age* is the first
half of a story that will be completed next year. Here's an interview by

upright Victorian sage of 80 or 85 years of age:
