True. But knowing that one's mood and development is under one's own
control and not just something externally imposed can work wonders. I
would imagine that most adolescents would go through puberty at roughly
the same time out of peer pressure, but knowing that this change in the
end is under their own control might make it far less disturbing - there
is always an option to opt out.
Overall I think it is better to know that one can know, control or
influence aspects of oneself than have them immutable or unknowable,
even if one decides not to use this influence.
