Smantha explain precisely what I meant even better than I could have done
myself (thanks!):
<<Eschewing sex, at least for a time, doesn't mean you worship
something else of course. Besides the other arguments, sex
sometiems just loses its allure. You've been there and done
that so many times and in so many variations and rode the
various endorphin floods, orgasmic currents, mammalian
pair-bonding, various types of sex-magic and so on that it
simply isn't seen as all that wonderful to replay it again and
again and yet again. There really are a lot of other things to
do with the energy. Sex/romance can be very, very magical. But
it can get old or be less important than other things.
.............................................................................
I assume that most people here are not particularly caught by
either one of those. We are all about going beyond any fixed
notions of "natural" and I doubt many of us cast sex as sinful.>>
I certainly don't see anything "wrong" with it. But then again, my only basis
for "wrong" is if it hurts or negatively impacts another person. Beyond
that, I like to look at things in terms of personal choice rather than a
prescriptive set of morals (someting I never really understood to begin with).

Yep! Thats why I didn't want to get into THAT whole issue. Its not that my
views are even that extreme, but for some reason, people have a really hard
time with it & I usually end up getting chewed out.
<<People do get emotional when they discover somebody has an "alien" value
system. >>
Thats really too bad. Its something I've been reluctant to accept (blame
it on youthful idealism) but now that I'm starting to see it, I'm far less
disappointed by people in general - I just expect them to react like jerks
now. But I also think thats why I keep to myself more about my ideas - I've
learned my lesson the hard way. People are pretty serious about their values -
like its hard for them to be "wrong" but its unthinkable to be "bad" (if that
makes any sense).
<<As Aldous Huxley said: "An intellectual is a person who's found one thing
that's more interesting than sex.">>
LOL! I really like that one! :D
