What it demonstrates is that evolving an upright gait is not an
automatic prescription for high intelligence. This ape was the first
(and therefore the most advantaged) yet retained the brain size of a
chimp, so far as we know. It is interestingly forcing a reevaluation of
the evolution of the hominid family of species, eliminating the old vine
shaped family tree and supplanting it with a much more bushy lineage.
The fact that only one hominid species remains, if you follow tree
hugger methodology, means that humanity should be declared an endangered
species.
