Both Nancy and Ron were originally semi-socialist Hollywood types until
they started to hear about what was really going on behind the iron
curtain (and unlike most lefties, didn't choose to ignore it). They both
remained more motivated by anecdotal evidence and personal experiences
of people rather than facts and reason throughout their lives.

I know many astrology buffs and they are almost exclusively left
wingers. On my little venture into the hippie world at the Rainbow
Gathering a couple years ago, I saw more astrologers (and believers) per
acre than I'll be anybody has ever seen outside of Fremont, WA and a
large chunk of california.

Now, there is a difference between atheist lefties and pagan-type
lefties in their belief in astrology. Atheists generally are less
inclined to astrology, while the pagan types are almost 100% for it. I
don't know many atheist or pagan right wingers outside the libertarian
party.
