Hey, the right wingers and libertarian former right-wingers
should have a zingy nickname analogous to hippy-dippy.
What? Who would be the poster child? The hippy-dippy
types had theirs: Timothy Leary for instance, or Goldie
Hawn's character on Rowan and Martin's Laugh In, etc.
The right wingers had Archie Bunker, but he was an
intentionally absurd bigot. I guess Rush Limbaugh is about
as close as we get. Libertarians have Jesse Ventura.
Regarding hippy dippy, we have known for some time that
a libertarian from the left is a different critter than a
libertarian from the right. Many similar characteristics,
very different thinking.
One seldom starts out a libertarian. When one is far
left wing as a child, a logical progression as one
comes of age is toward libertarian. When one is far
right wing as a child, a logical progression as one
comes of age is also toward libertarian.
Does that meme kinda work? Both political extremes come
in from the wings, arriving at similar conclusions for different
reasons. The liberarian from the left wants the government
to keep its oppressive hands off her body and her drugs.
The libertarian from the right want the government to keep
its greedy hands off her money and her property.
How does that work? spike
