Yes, they settled. Ballmer doesn't want to mess around with legal
proceedings. He's busy working on the next round of product innovation.
There was a good update in a recent BusinessWeek.

If Microsoft were in trouble for this, many other companies will be. It
seems to have been a very common practice.
