>Before throwing around accusations of revisionist history, please
understand the actual history involved. Do you know what Deism is? Almost
all the founders were Deists, in fact, and NOT christians. Read the vitriol
thrown at them from the time by the christian leaders for denying christ,
the bible, etc. and you'll see. When Jefferson referred to a creator, he
was not referring to the christian/jewish/muslim versions (all very
different from each other by the way) but to the deist model of a creator
who made the universe and its rules, then left it to be.<

Thank you for posting this. Since I read it, I have done a quick check on the founding fathers and I am amazed this information is not made more public rather than neatly hidden under the Christian belt.

While listening to Talk Radio 790 KABC "John and Ken" program, many callers expressing their views were atheists. Unfortunately, the argument then becomes a Christian vs. atheist problem rather than a matter of discussing the disadvantageous investment of religious sentiment into government business.

What we need to do is to keep it out of the hands atheism, but in the hands of a rational and objective government policy Continuing to argue against the church and states as atheists rather than rational thinkers fuels the religious fire.
