This was covered earlier this week in the local
papers, but I didn't see anything on this list so far,
so there's one link. The story in the papers was a
lot more positive. Apparently dogs, who allegedly
have olfactory senses thousands of times better than
humans, can be trained to reliably detect melanomas
with near 100% accuracy. Not yet fully confirmed is
their success with other cancers, especially early
prostate, but preliminary results look real good.
Here's yet another example of how our state-monopoly
system of medicine and drugs keeps us from finding the
stuff that really works. Other examples: burn
treatments until the mid-80's, itching treatment with
hot water (still not commonly known).
