I don't know, maybe I should feel a little foolish.
Just the other day I posted a link to a recently
encountered piece about Cyc,, thinking that it was an
update on progress, or at least an update. Now Hal
tells me that there's been a "recent spasm of
publicity about the massively failing Cyc project..."
I didn't see that other, negative publicity. I can
always google it up myself, I suppose, but mayhaps you
could supply a link or two, just so we can 'stay on
the same page'.

But wait... Maybe it's the same publicity. Maybe it's
not in the publicity, but rather it's Hal's own
assessment that the cyc project is a "massive
failure". Perhaps cyc is a massive failure. What do
I know? I'm not contending here, just seeking
clarification. A modular and copyable database of
common sense, while a bit less bells-and-whistles
hi-tech code-savant glitzy, nevertheless seems like
something which might be useful aong the road to ai.

Whazzup?

Best, Jeff Davis
