An additional reason: some of us only have time to check the ExI list every
few days. It's been about three or four days since I last had time to dip a
toe in the mailbox I filter it into, and trying to identify the good stuff
is ... trying. You lose track of discussion threads very fast if you don't
read them in realtime, and I'm not willing to have my main inbox submerged
under an ocean of extropiana because, appealing though the thought might
be, I use it as an aide-memoire in earning my living.

If you only check the list once every few days, the build-up can be a bit
dizzying -- hundreds of new messages to deal with.
