<Having worked for a some semesters in college and having had
sufficient funds to not work in others I know that generally not
working in college makes it a lot easier to go fully into
academic work. It is quite advantageous.>
Of course. But then again I didn't have a *reason* to
fully apply myself during College 1. I just wanted to
learn, which wasn't exactly the *real* purpose of the
exercises, it was getting the piece of paper.
The second time I have a much much better handle
on what's going on, and college is just artillery support
for the mased charge of the career. Works out well
in my case, but everybody's different.
<I see your point that it is actually good that many families
care that much. But, I do find it appalling that our society
will spend $30,000/yr per person in our outrageously huge
prision population but canot consistently make available even
$10,000/yr per person who wants to go to college and can keep a
reasonable GPA.>
This is probably because , with the huge exception of the non-violent
drug offenders, the prisons are populated with the sort of
violent, borderline retarded curs that shouldn't have made it
out of the womb to begin with, and as society doesn't
presently have the cojones to simply hang them en masse
society has to do the "next best thing".
The sad thing is the non-violent "offenders" wind up being
raped and abused by the lowest strate of society in there,
and then society heaps derison on them when the understandably
have issues against the groups that were responsible for
giving them AIDS and PTSD whilst gangraping them.
I have a three word suggestion for these sort of lowlifes...
Kill Them Slowly.
Just as a deterrent of course :)
(This is not a solicitation or suggestion of initation of
violence in contravention of the Exropian Principles,
in nomine patri, fili, un spiritu sancti amen!)
