SPACE: Wanted, thermomagnetic materials...

Had a minor idea for a space propulsion system that would utilize a
plasma-magnetic system to harness solar output, but would also use solar
flux to power the field directly, having a toroidal balloon that was
transparent on one side and reflective on the other, so it would focus
solar flux within a tight circle within the torus, where the solar flux
would be converted to magnetic energy either through photovoltaic
conversion, or possibly having a gas or fluid within a tube in the focus
circle that would generate a toroidal magnetic field from the solar
flux. Is anyone aware of any materials that generate magnetic fields
from light or heat? Would a fluid heated in such a manner be efficient
at generating a magnetic field from an MHD device in the torus?????
