Heroism in art?

On another list, someone sent me this link:

He basically told me that these works portray heroism in art. Now, I
don't get that from any of them. Do you? (For the record, I don't
think heroism is the most important factor in art either. I can do
quite nicely with a Cezanne landscape, thank you.:)

I don't necessarily disagree with Newbury's words either, though I'm
kind of weary of manifestoes. Just show me the work and let me decide
if I love or loathe it.:)
