i agree with you. sometimes i get scared about what will happen if i go
totally bonkers again, and am left with someone not of my chosing making
legal and medical decisions for me. i know i can take precautions about
this, but it is very socially awkward to do, and i don't even trust my
own judgement now very well yet.

i think R.D. Laing and others did a lot of nasty harm by blaming the
actions of families for the mental illness of their children. then,
some more considerate people (like the above, perhaps) tried to repair
this harm, but in some ways i think the pendulum swung too far. as far
as i understand, in the study if schizophrenia, it is now almost taboo
to consider that psychological processes affect brain chemistry rather
than just the other way around.
i am convinced that schizophrenia is the result of messed up brain
chemistry, but this is subject to so many things. it seems to be
negatively or positively affected by both physical and mental habits and
experiences. i think schizophrenia is a malleable, mutable organic
pathology.
