The amazing lack of progress in early childhood
education! Wow. It's like people rubbing sticks
together to make fires in Manhatten, even while their
neighbors are enjoying computerized room-specific
climate control.

If there was ever a case to made against socialism, it
is education. I've seen kids using professional paint
programs at the age of three - proficiently! The 6-7
year old kids in the Montessori school I helped start
in '71 were reading newspapers with no problem,
starting in algebra, could find anything on a map or
globe, parse and diagram any English sentence, tell
you the history of the world in detail - human and
biologic.

Check out some of the Montessori sites. Take a look at
National Academy for Child Development or the Better
Baby Institute sites. Read J.S. Mill's autobiography.
 Jeez! A three-year-old should already be reading
fluently, not just speaking...
