While I understand and can appreciate your concerns and frustrations over
the fact that some posters don't follow proper netiquette when replying and
posting, one thing that you have to keep in mind is that this list is not a
moderated one. I'm probably the closest thing to a moderator here, but
there are only a few parameters I keep an eye out for (such as ad hominem
comments, over eight posts per person per day etc.). The fact is that
there are hundreds of subscribers to this list, each of whom have a
slightly different idea of netiquette. While I agree that standard quoting
practices make sense, it is quite difficult to force anyone to do so. In
my experience on this list, if an issue is more of the nit-picky variety
than that of a substance based thread, the nit-picky issue tends to be the
one that gets the most comments!

Ultimately, if it does start to become a bigger problem, then maybe
something will have to be done about it. Until such time, it's best to
accept it and let sleeping dogs lie...
