I think the Little People in Africa come darned close, because fruit etc. is
plentiful and monkeys and birds are hard to catch. They might get some sort of
piglet thing every so often. But that's a special niche, as you have noted,
and I suspect they're little people for a sheaf of evolutionary biology
reasons that include reduced caloric consumption.
You're right that in freaking Montana, you need a ton (figurative) of wood to
last the winter in a log house.
