I don't recall reading any mention on this list of the widely-reported work
of Prof. Allan Snyder of Sydney University. See, for instance,
<http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/sci/tech/newsid_1932000/1932709.stm>.
Snyder's "thinking cap" allegedly stimulates particular areas of the brain by
means of magnetism. He claims to have already shown he can increase
creativity in his subjects and aims to similarly augment other cognitive
processes.
Whether or not the device works as claims remains far beyond my ken at
present. I thought some of you would want to hear of it, however. Then,
too, I found amusing the notion that transhumanism could come from such an
unexpected quarter.
