Of course, what is "Protection"? Is it money you pay somebody else to
protect you from themselves harming your safety? If so, then you would
want to pay as little protection as possible to get the most safety. If
this is so, then having more guns than two starts to decrease the amount
of protection money you need to pay to whatever racket is extorting it
from you. Clearly, just having a couple six-shooters on the hip doesn't
impact that at all while it does maximize your safety, but if you also
have an M-16, a Vulcan Cannon, a 105mm howitzer, etc then people are far
less likely to be demanding any money from you to protect you from
themselves.
