I humbly submit that three of the above principles of Extropianism --
Self-Transformation, Open Society, and Self-Direction -- mesh on social
level with libertarianism (and free market economics), so I don't see
libertarian politics as a side issue here. In fact, I also believe that
all other politics tend to be against the principles because they work
against one or more of them.

However, it would probably be best, given the level of emotion (from me
too) if we focused on the examples Harvey uses. Also, I doubt after
about 2300 years of arguing over what's the right way to organize
society, we're going to persuade each other any of us has the solutions
here. (Let's wait for the Signularity, right?:)
