problem to warrant heroic measures at the cost of 10e12 $ or so. The
quicklime process would be a huge public works project for unimaginative
engineers. While the recycling of Ca(OH)2 would allow the capture of huge
amounts of CO2 with a small initial investment of carbonate, this would have
an immense energy cost, the disposal of C02 in the ocean or underground
would pose its own environmental problems and would almost certainly be more
expensive than the options Eugen mentioned.
