When I was reading how they were proposing to do the extraction, one
rather obvious kink popped into mind: How are they going to power the
extraction process? The process they are talking about will result in a
rather vast net consumption of energy, most of which is currently
generated by fossil fuels.

Maybe you can get Mommies Against Nukes to sign off on it if you explain
that it is "for the environment/stops global warming". But then, why
not just eliminate the middleman and use nuke power to begin with; you
can just tell them you are removing the CO2 from the air, when you are
really "removing it" by not generating it to begin with.
