According to CIA's World Factbook 1998, China's exports in 1997 was $182.7

quotes an estimate made in 1997 that PLA's annual revenue from its
businesses was $10 billion (I think this includes domestic revenue as well
as exports). This was before the PLA was ordered out of commerce in 1998
