Another news source is the International Herald Tribune. About 1 year
ago they started publishing a section interior to their main paper
which is a translation of a newspaper specific to that country. I
think that it's a great idea.

I've only read the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (Germany) and
Rizzoli Corriere della Sera (Italy) versions so far, but I thought
both were really helpful for giving the reader a 'sense' of the
important issues important for the region's people as well as the
"mood". If you don't have the access or language skills or time to
read the original language/full newspaper versions, then this is at
least some good information.

International Herald Tribune Publishing Partners:
Ha'aretz, Kathimerini, Italy Daily (Rizzoli Corriere della Sera),
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, JoongAng Ilbo, The Daily Star

Info from their Web site:

"In Israel, Greece, Italy, Germany, South Korea, Japan, Lebanon,
Spain, and The Netherlands, the International Herald Tribune is in
partnership with nine high profile, quality newspapers to provide a
special supplement of local news, in English.

This page is updated throughout the day to incorporate the most recent
PDFs from each newspaper.

All newspapers are generally available by midday GMT, on the date of
publication, if not sooner.

PDF versions of El Pais and Het Financieele Dagblad will appear
shortly."
