A Palestinian state was supported by most of the world including
the U.S. and Israel long before now, in fact the best deal the
Palestinians will ever see was sitting waiting to be signed in Sept
2000. Something like 97% plus of what they ever said they wanted.
Any negotiator would be extremely proud to get such a deal. But
Arafat after negotiating that deal walked away and started the
Intifada again.

They wanted Israelis soldiers in their living rooms?

They got attention, but is that all they really wanted? Arafat
wanted to destroy Israel, that's not going to happen, and any peace
deal will include putting the Hamas/Hizbollah/etc out of business
for good.

Still, I'm rather disappointed at the way the administration has
handled this.
