I'm not counting on singularity in the next couple of decades, or ever.
IMO the extropian philosophy is applicable to any age, not only one with
a techno-wonderful future just around the bend, though such prospects do
serve as inspiration. I plan to maximize my life/healthspan and
enjoyment regardless. If the opportunity to inload, upload, or
otherwise go transhuman presents itself, fantastic. If not, I'll still
have a great human life.

If I could choose to burn bright/out I wouldn't, as I don't
realistically expect to cause the future to arrive significantly sooner
through my individual efforts. However, I don't know that such a choice
exists. I've never heard of slowing one's metabolism as a viable life
extension strategy.
