A Year in Provence
Peter Mayle
ISBN 0-679-73114-8
U.S. $12.00
This is the first in a series of what are now four travel books by
Peter Mayle. You may remember me mentioning book four "French
Lessons" yesterday.
Extropian significance? I remember reading someone say once that
"there are people who want to live forever, but don't know what to
do on a rainy Sunday afternoon." I don't intend on being such a
person, and suspect most here don't.
This is Mayle's story about buying a 200 year old french farmhouse
in Provence, and moving there with his wife and two dogs, and a
year in their life.
I bought it yesterday, and am already halfway through. Think of it
as a 200 page vacation.
I've already ordered books 2 and 3 and pick them up tonight.
I have a sudden urge for a glass of Calvados.
