Even in the english world, where Alice and Alys are used with different
genders in different english countries, Chris, Pat, Lee, and many others
are completely non-gender specific, at least in the US, and even Mickey,
Fred, and others are used by both genders.
Here's something to ponder: perhaps people WANT gender specificity
because they LIKE having the gender identity they have.
