A few people have noted this as well. I can only get it working in one of
my nine browsers. The chat is built into Yahoo, and I don't have much
insight into how it works inside.

I used to be much more active on IRC. The problem is that it doesn't spread
across all servers very well. There are literally hundreds of different IRC
networks, and a channel on one can't see messages from a similarly named
channel on another. I have tried to meet people on IRC, and have had to
search through dozens of channels with the same name until I found the
correct one. I don't think anybody has chatting working really well yet.

We will have to find a better alternative if a lot of people can't use
Yahoo's chat.
