Nanoprisms Could be Used to Detect Biological Weapons

Scientists at Northwestern University (NU) have created a nanoparticle
with a new geometry that could be a useful tool to detect biological
weapons. While most nanoparticles are spheres or rods, the new
triangular nanoprism, exhibits unusual optical properties as a result of
its geometry. These properties could be used to improve biodetectors,
allowing them to test for a far greater number of biological warfare
agents or diseases at one time.
