This was a conference I would like to have been at. I'm looking forward to
finding out what Arthur Kaplan had to say about the ethics of life
extension. Has anyone seen any reports on that?

U.S. scientists urge more research with embryos

WASHINGTON, Dec 2 (Reuters) - The United States should not condemn research
that uses cloning and stem cells from embryos but should instead fund it,
some scientists said on Sunday.
The researchers, speaking at the Second Annual Conference on Regenerative
Medicine, said they aim not to kill babies or to create cloned people but
to use the body's own resources to heal itself.
"We cannot have this research blocked," Dr. William Haseltine, chairman and
chief executive officer of Human Genome Sciences Inc. (HGSI) and chairman
of the conference, said. "We need a massive infusion of federal funds."
