You are recommending that the US do something that no world power has
ever done, or could ever do, in the entire history of planet Earth. In a world full
of suitcase nukes, anthrax letters and hijackers armed with box cutters we
can't afford to stop meddling with gangs of murderous thugs that you
euphemistically call "other country's governments".

I don't think so. I'm convinced that the root cause of the hatred is not the
actions of America but rather its existence. They hate the fact that our
gross national product is about 40 times that of the entire Islamic world,
they hate the fact that their children are more interested in Madonna than
Saddam Hussein, they hate the fact that Islamic women envy the
women of the west. They hate the fact that in the battle of ideas their
religion and the autocratic patriarchal societies it produces have come off
second best.

Wise move.
