Agreed. Hence my efforts to keep this wound open, to rub salt in it.
Sometimes several layers of psychological defenses need to be taken
down, the person reduced to a sobbing wreck, before he or she can think
and speak honestly.

I dunno about others, but for me, anger is by far the easiest emotion to
control. Maybe this comes from reading _Illuminatus!_ 6 or 7 times.
Present horror, induce detachment, rinse and repeat till the target
person is straining his or her facilities to reason to the breaking
point. Therein lie the answers to defeating terrorism. Imho our gov't,
crufty and insecure and bloated as a Microsoft application, is utterly
incapable of solving this although they are certainly quick with regards
to spending taxpayer money, reducing civil liberties, and ordering
others to put their lives on the line. We need an empowering,
people-centric solution. We may no longer be able to afford being elite
extropians chuckling at the idiocy of the luddite masses.

Wouldn't it be great if a book entitled _Call to Reason: The 'New
Seriousness' in the Post-Attack Society_ came out?
