I'm absolutely exasperated at the amount of futuristic or plain wacko
schemes proposed as solutions.

This is not a war where you have two decades time to prepare in advance.
This is a war against an extremely low-tech adversary. Thinly spread,
hidden amongst civilians in a terrain they know well, and free to go
across the state boundaries.

At this point we should abundantly realize that we don't know what the
fuck we're talking about, with the possible exception of some amateur
analysts and veterans of military campagnes. Trying to make informed
decisions in the face of such background ignorance is absolutely futile.

It is too late to inform ourselves or influences the course of the coming
events, but let's remember what is happening now, and let's consider it a
lesson that something like this won't recur.
