It was only to be expected. Note that we now are essentially back to
square one with the clipper chip, but now with the added feature of
global prohibitions and a likely strong support from the public and
politicians. It is going to be an uphill battle to argue against this
(especially in the US) without sounding like helping terrorism - despite
that these backdoors would at most help trace people *after* a nefarious
deed, not prevent it... Unless certain agencies are also given the
rights to do some premptive searching, which might appeal to quite a few
people too right now :-(
