Why is this unusual? Have a look at a discussion I was having in the

which touches on some of these issues. If we raise our eyebrows every time
religious people (i.e. the majority of the society we're trying to
influence) express a desire to live longer, we're never going to get
anywhere in making life extension of any sort a mainstream issue. Meaning we
all die.

The moderately religious have the same desires as the irrelegious (or
areligious for that matter). Not wanting the body to crumble, displacement
behavior to try and find a way not to think about ceasing to exist, etc,
etc. They should be just as open to anti-aging technologies, and by
extension interested in life extension.
