ARROW HITS AIRCRAFT-LAUNCHED BLACK SPARROW
TARGET: Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) yesterday reported that the
Arrow Weapon System hit a ballistic missile target in the ninth flight
test in an ongoing series of flight tests. During the test, conducted at an
Israel Air Force test site, Arrow hit a Black Sparrow target launched
from an IAF aircraft toward the shores of Israel to simulate an
incoming ballistic missile, IAI said. The Arrow program is a joint
U.S./Israel effort to develop and deploy an anti-ballistic missile
defense system for Israel. IAI's MLM Division is the prime
contractor for the Arrow weapon system and develops the missile
and launcher. Arrow's infrared seeker was developed by
Ra[aaaaaa]ytheon and Lockheed Martin builds the system's
radar. (Defense Daily)
