This may be the time. Can we buy a country somewhere? Maybe set up a web
site and see if we can get a few thousand computer people and scientists
to sign up, to make a contract with some independent state that we'd
move there (and hopefully, vastly increase the state's wealth) in
exchange for at least a somewhat libertarian government. I'm not sure
how we could get guarantees that the place would remain reasonably free.
but I'm personally getting quite disgusted with the way things are here
and am looking for someplace to emigrate to. I'm considering going home
to Norway, sure it's an expensive, high-tax socialist welfare state but
it seems to work better than most and recently got some
best-place-for-geeks-to-live rating.
Or maybe the middle of Iceland, which is pretty empty at the moment.
