Greeting Eugene and all Etropians:
My wife and I both take DHEA, but only after extensive blood testing and on
recommandation of a physician experienced in hormone therapy.
DHEA is a Testosterone Precursor. My wife took 50mg/day and it raised her
Total Tetosterone from under 50 to 100ng/dl (the max for females, and she
has since reduced her intake to 25mg/day)
I taking 100mg/day in 3 doses and it moved my DHEA-S level from 213 to 577;
from very low end nomal to mid range.
Now the big question: Do is actually have an observable effect? I'm taking
it to keep all my hormones at their mid-range "normal" levels, and I also
take supplemental Testosterone because that was very low, too. Mine was
low, now its "normal"(i.e. in the middle of the range), so I'm happy (and
it's quite cheap here, only $7.50 a month) My wife said she could tell the
difference and felt better.
So, knowing what I know now, I would not take it without first having blood
tests on all your hormones, otherwise you're just shooting in the dark. I
would recommend these tests, and a doctor experienced in hormone replacement
therapy (for men)
TOTAL and FREE Testosterone (2 seperate tests)
Estrogen
DHEA
DHT
Pregnenolone
PSA (the Prostate Specific Antigen test)very important if you're gonna mess
with your hormones.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Subject: DHEA advice?
I've just ordered some DHEA dragees (200 a la 25 mg). My expectation
horizont is 90% snake oil, so
1) does it work?
2) if it does work, what is a safe daily dose/distribution?
3) should I combine it with exercise, and other supplements?
Disclaimer: my net connectivity is currently pretty much
nonexistant/limited, so I can't do my own research.
Any advice much appreciated.
